About This Lesson
A study guide to the Paramount Pictures film Defiance, based on the true story of the Bielski brothers, who rescued more than 1,200 Jews by waging a guerrilla war against the Nazis in western Poland. Classroom activities explore the many dimensions of heroism, the many forms of Jewish resistance to the Holocaust, and the moral dilemmas of those dark days. The program for public libraries includes a reproducible quiz and reading list. VISIT THE PROGRAM SITE (via link below) for additional resources including library program. Made possible by Paramount Pictures.
An excellent lesson plan on a very difficult subject. As an additional resource, teachers may want to have their classes listen to my song "6,000,000," or read its lyric sheet as a poem. Both resources are available under my name, Hank Fellows, on the "Share My Lesson" website.
