About This Lesson

This can be shown at the start of a lesson learning about how aluminium has to be extracted by electrolysis. The Eros statue in London is made of aluminium as this metal was very expensive when it was erected in 1893. Since electrolysis has been used to extract aluminium it has become a cheap, disposable metal.

Thanks for the "well I never knew that" moment which makes teaching so worthwhile. Puts electrolysis into an interesting context and a good starter option for APP skills areas 1-3 as well. I will definitely be using this with the kids - and I don't even have to go and find my own picture on the internet! Keep up the good work. ;-)
