About This Lesson

Students will identify and graph the basic-parent linear function; identify and graph the effect on the graph of replacing f(x) by f(x) + k, k f(x), f(kx), and f(x +k) for specific values of k (both positive and negative) which in other words are various kinds of transformations; and find the value of k given the graphs. Students will also increase their understanding between geometric transformations of graphs of functions and algebraic transformations of the associated equations.
