About This Lesson

This research project guides students through an in-depth exploration of poetry and literary analysis. Students first read and analyze a selection of poetry. This is followed by students selecting a poet or a minimum of five poems, writing a statement of intent, and gathering relevant research materials. They then analyze the selected works, compiling a portfolio that demonstrates their understanding of literary strategies. The process continues with the drafting of a research paper, including proper citation and documentation. Through peer reviews and revisions, students refine their writing before submitting a polished final draft. The project culminates in a persuasive 5–7-minute presentation, where students showcase their findings using visual aids or multimedia elements.
