About This Lesson

Students will learn how to derive the quadratic formula from the form (x-h)2 = k. Students will use the concept of transforming a quadratic equation in standard form into an equivalent quadratic equation by completing the square. Students will then use the concepts taught in this series of lessons and prior knowledge of factoring, simplifying radicals, and simplifying rational expressions using addition and subtraction to transform the standard form of a quadratic equation by completing the square to derive the quadratic formula.
