Reading & Writing Comprehension Skills

This is a Unit Plan for a gr. 6 ELA class working on their reading and writing comprehension skills on short stories throughout the course of four weeks.This plan is for low to intermediate middle school ELLs and will help students realize the connections between literature and everyday life.While incorporating short stories such as Raymond’s Run by Toni Cade Bambara and The Parsley Garden by William Saroyan into the unit, students can relate to the characters and topics and make connections (text to text, text to self, text to world) surrounding these stories.Common Core Standard: RL.6.2
