About This Lesson
This research unit will take place at the end of the third quarter for a 7th grade English class. Students are already familiar with in-text citations, imagery writing, and analytical essays, but will be new to conducting research (locating reliable sources, paraphrasing information, explaining quotes, and writing a Works Cited page). This unit is for a small, K-12 private school where all students have access to Chromebooks in class. I taught this unit to two periods of students (roughly, 50% female, 50% male), with only five IEP students, and two ELL students. My school does not offer GATE, but one period has more students on an accelerated English or Math track than the other.
