About This Lesson

This LASW session will pull forward MP 3 , MP 4 and MP 6 while focusing on 4.OA.1&2. Students will talkabout how Samantha was thinking: “Why did she draw the diagram that way?”, “What do the pieces represent?” and “Is her answer correct?” Once they understand the structure of the tape diagram, they will begin the practice problems in Tape Diagram Practice #1. See the Tape Diagram Practice #1 Student Exemplar. Note that in this activity, the first two problems are from the Unknown Product category and the last two problems are from the Group Size Unknown category.
