About This Lesson
In this lesson, students will read a passage from a poem written by a former slave. Students will learn to choose six main points (textual evidence) from the poem and conceptualize them with pictures while depicting the author’s point of view. Students will also learn to work in groups and determine the main points in the article before they begin drawing. During the lesson, students will demonstrate comprehension of the poem by utilizing their knowledge of vocabulary and close reading from the previous two lessons.
