About This Lesson
This is the first of a four lesson unit on Addition and Subtraction strategies. Teachers will introduce the lesson by reading Ten for Me by Barbara Mariconda. List all of the addition facts that create a sum of 10. Explain to students that this is a strategy that can be used to add two one-digit numbers with a sum greater than ten. Teachers will then provide students with their own double ten frame. The second part of this lesson, Ten Frame Addition (part 2), contains about 15 different double ten frame documents.
