About This Lesson

In this activity, students are given a variety of objects to count and group to make ten. The purpose of this lesson is for students to make the important step of viewing ten ones as unit called ten. This lesson was developed by Denise Brown and the Chicago Lesson Study Group using a Lesson Plan template chosen by the AFT Common Core cadre for lesson sharing. The Lesson Plan template is also included. Aligned with Common Core State Standard: 1.NBT.2
