Hello, I am Claudia, and I live in Texas.
I teach mindfulness meditation sessions to manage stress. I am excited about this community and am looking forward to learning more about wellness.

As educators, it's easy to put everyone else first. But your wellness matters, too. Whether you're focusing on better sleep, setting boundaries, practicing mindfulness, or just drinking more water, share one way you're taking care of yourself and how it's going so far this year.
Choose one of the 8 dimensions of wellness to focus on this month. Set a small, achievable goal and track your progress weekly. Feel free to share which dimension you choose below.
The first session is live tonight, and available on demand by tomorrow: Eight Dimensions of Wellness. Learn more: https://sharemylesson.com/webinars/eight-dimensions-educator-wellness
Can't wait! We have so much to share and great tips for making our wellness a priority!
If you did, we would love to hear what you thought! Please log in to leave a rating & review. It helps us know what to plan for in 2023. Thanks!
We are working now more than ever and we really need to take the time to care for ourselves.
Very true!
So true ...
Put on your oxygen mask first, so that you can help others...
I'm super interested in all topics related to health and wellness for myself and all my students. In particular, stress management seems super essential for all of us to effectively relate to our lives.
What is your school district doing to take care of your health and well-being?
My son's school is extending the Thanksgiving break by two additional days to give staff a longer break.
My school checks in with us frequently about our mental health. We have started a teacher newsletter and some in-person social gatherings. Personally, I'm trying to get outside in nature several times per week!
? Don't give up...fight back instead. It isn't too early to start a new year revolution! Need motivation? Read this article (https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/solutions/2020/09/17/exercise-diet-…). Rather then set a resolution that 88% of the time doesn't get filled (too vague, no clearly stated or achievable goals/plan in place), join me in choosing one word that will guide your actions throughout the upcoming year. Each time you are faced with a choice, invoke your word and evaluate your decisions in the context of the word until it becomes a habit. Your word can be a noun, verb, adjective or adverb. Here are some suggestions: courage, adapt, persevere, change, joy, consistent, commit, develop, dare, risk, self, believe, etc.
The word I chose is Balance. I find I am spending too much time working and not enough enjoying, relaxing, and doing the things I like. Because I am working remotely, it is so easy to jump back on the computer in the evening or answer emails/calls on my cell phone over the weekend. After dinner, I tend to sit on the couch eating dessert and watching TV until I go to bed. I want to balance my time better to incorporate exercise in more often. I walk a lot during the day thanks to my Dalmatian grandpuppy, but I want to get back on my indoor back 3x a week. Rather than eating dessert every night, I am going to balance it by eating a Greek yogurt in a flavor I like. My menus will be balanced as well: salads for four meals per week instead of high caloric dishes with cream sauces. The key is to balance so I don't feel deprived. Like a see-saw, I will go gradually so I see progress over time.
I am choosing Consisten this year. I am going to be consistent on scheduling time for family, work, exercise, and daily routines that have gone awry this past year.
That is a great word, Sarah. Like the tortoise, slow and steady wins the race. It is such a great practice to actually schedule these times in your calendar. That way they have a better chance of happening.
It helped me to relax and destress.
I chose environmental because the spaces we surround ourselves with have a huge impact on our well-being. I thrive in environments that make me feel comfortable and happy—whether it’s calming aesthetics, good lighting, or just a positive atmosphere. I’m definitely a ‘vibes’ kind of guy, so this dimension resonated with me the most. When my surroundings feel right, I feel more energized, focused, and at ease.
