About This Lesson

I created this as a "Do Now" (bell ringer activity) when I realized many students in my inclusion class weren't quite ready for a writing assignment based no the three Chinese philosophies of Confucianism, Taoism, and Legalism. In this activity, students pretend it is the first day of school and they meet three teachers who claim they base their classroom rules on one of the philosophers. They must determine which philosophy the teacher bases her rules on and explain how they know.

Great idea! The kids really take well to this. The language is on their level and easy to understand. I think ti helps them connect more to the philosophies by giving it a school context.

Thank you! I liked this

Thank you! I liked this lesson. I added a section where they wrote their own scenario and acted it out for the class.
