I very much value being an american citizen and the freedom to teach means a lot to me.

It means that students are taught that they can voice their opinion without being worried about prosecution. It means being able to have discussions with students who feel safe and value their education. Freedom to teach, to me doesn't just mean teaching the curriculum my way, which I do value and appreciate, but that students can value what they learn as well.

The Freedom to Teach means teachers have the right to advocate and teach what is right and beneficial to our students in ways that will help them grow and wonder.

It is part of our job description to encourage students to question. As a Science teacher, I aim to teach students to be open minded about theories and generate their own conclusions and beliefs about phenomena based on the evidence they have researched and uncovered themselves.

I like your point! Questioning lays the groundwork for critical thinking, It is so important that we impart this to our students! I appreciate you sharing :)
