We're excited! Are you?
How will you adjust your teaching strategies to ensure your classroom is supportive and inclusive for all students?
I am a Grade 6-8 Special Education Math Teacher at Phoenix Academy, an alternative school serving students with emotional disabilities, in Annapolis, MD. This is my 2nd year at Phoenix but my 13th year in Education. I am looking forward to the Turnaround for Children Presents the Student Well-Being Index Webinar because I have been very concerned about my students well-being during the Pandemic. I returned to the classroom on Feb. 17th and my students return for hybrid instruction in March.
Or, if you already attended, what was one new thing you learned that you will implement into your Arts, ELA and/or STEM lessons?
This is my 2nd year at the center but my 24th year in education. I'm looking forward to Instructional Strategies for ARTS, ELA and STEM. I am always looking for new strategies and ideas to use in my classroom.
What are you looking forward to learning? How is this going to help you support your students as they return to school? What webinar did you watch and what lingering thoughts do you have?
Brenda from Los Angeles. I am excited to join this community; first time attending AFT's conference. Currently, I am a Librarian at a Middle School and am entering my 39th year in education. Learning never gets old for me. Needless to say, I am excited by number of offerings but am especially looking forward to the SEL, equity and strategies to engage student voice among others for which I have signed up. I am feeling grateful at this moment in time for the opportunity to participate in such an endeavor and thank those who have planned and will present these workshops!
We're excited to have you, Brenda! We have a truly special line up this year and we're looking forward to next month! :)
Hello Brenda! LA is my home, where all my family still live. I hope you are staying safe.
Nice to meet you, Brenda. I'm also a librarian but taught ESOL more so. Did you teach a classroom subject also?
How will the webinar help you in supporting your students’ mental health? Any questions you are still pondering following the conclusion of the webinar?
I will attend at least one and might watch others' recordings. Due to the effects of the pandemic and Biden's focus, I believe Every educator requires SEL training/retraining for students, themselves, and coworkers
I love the March conference! It is at the time of the school year that I need to recharge myself. This year I am most excited about the options for distance learning, reopening schools and learning recovery. I try to view and participate in a webinar in as many different topics as I can.
We're so excited that you are excited! It definitely is an opportunity to recharge and prepare for the months ahead.
Hi! I'm Mary Claire Cockrell and I teach at an alternative school in Northern KY. I am excited for the webinars on SEL and trauma-informed care.
Hi everyone! I'm Renee Stewart and I teach Life Skills classes for Teen Court. I'm looking forward to Media Literacy for Today's World: Lessons Learned from Nazi Propaganda. One of the many things I work on with my students is good decision-making skills and also knowing your personal values so you can make those decisions.
Hi! My name is Dina Austin and I teach English Language Learners in western NY. It is my first year teaching ELLs full time and I truly love it! I am most looking forward to the Anti Bias and Culturally Responsive Teaching seminar. I feel that this would help my students tremendously. I am also taking a class on Culturally Responsive Teaching, so I think the conference would help to expand my knowledge about that!
